Dark, ruby red colour with a touch of violet on edges and in reflection. Nose is herbal-fruity with a very fine spices in nuances. Dominant fruity character of freshly picked blackberries intertwined with ripe blackcurrants and traces of plums and forest fruits. Herbal aroma shows through the scent of the tomato leaves and forest fern, while spices are on side of peppery. On the palate, a foremost characteristic is freshness and fullness of the ripe fruit. Freshness comes throughout well expressed acidity, while in the aftertaste we get rich flavoures of freshly squeezed forest fruit and ripe cherries that stay in the mouth. Tanins are smooth, length is medium, alcohol is hardly visible, showing only in firmness and character which is balancing the fruity, fresh side of the wine. Its aromatic profile, freshness and polished texture, Teran (Note: the tasting note refers to the vintage 2014 and is in our opinion representative of other vintages as the Teran is subject to little vintage-specific variations in taste and quality) is more alike young Bordeaux reds based on Cabernet Franc and Merlot then Istrian Teran we are used to.
Combining with food:
Lamb from the pike on the first place, then pasta dishes like lasagne with minced meat or pasta with tomato sauces. Also meat balls in sauces, grilled pork, turkey and game bird like pheasant.
