Stina Plavac mali barrique is made from our most valuable and best known autochthon black variety Plavac mali, and is an excellent example for getting to know all the values and potential of this variety. Fruity is preserved and pronounced while tannins, which have little progress in Plavac, are tanned and soft. The color is ruby dark red, characteristic for Plavac mali, and the influence of wood obtained by aging in barrique barrels is very nicely encapsulated. Wine that will leave no one indifferent.

The vineyards are located on the southern slopes of the island of Brač near Bol. There Plavac Mali grows on typical vineyard positions on limestone soils with plenty of skeletons and stones. Vineyards are of different ages, from younger to older. Because of the specificity of the variety and ecological conditions of production, the need for protection is minimal. Grapes are harvested manually and relatively late with the aim of better milling of polyphenols in berries.

The fermentation of must for the production of this wine takes place in stainless steel tanks under strictly controlled conditions. Grape maceration takes from 2 to 3 weeks, which improves the structure of the wine. It is important that the grapes are in optimal maturity, so that the tannins are mild and mature. We also want the natural fruitfulness of Plavac small to be expressed, which is achieved by the optimal moment of grape harvesting.

After fermentation and malolactics, the wine is served for 8 to 10 months in French barrels used for 2 to 3 years. The aim is to make tannins in the wine soften by maturing in barrique barrels, while at the same time using the used drums, we ensure optimal wood effect in wine. This colorful note only complements the natural fruitiness of the wine. After aging, the bottles are stored in the bottle, which is kept for at least 6 months before release for sale.
