Blaufränkisch (Frankovka) is a variety originating from Slovenia and nowadays authentic in many countries in Central Europe, including Croatia. The wine has an intense ruby red color, medium density and refreshing fruit flavours. Blaufränkisch has aromas of dark ripe cherries and dark berries, is spicy, has medium tannin levels and sometimes very good acidity. Young wines are deeply fruity and become more velvety, supple and complex with age. Serve slightly chilled (16 ° C) with strong ie. spicy dishes. Blaufränkisch is often paired with lamb dishes and grilled meats.
